Dear Illinois Colleagues,
The 2009 Campus Charitable Fund Drive (CCFD) will begin on September 21 and run until November 13. Those eight short weeks give us an opportunity to make a long-lasting impact on our university community.
Once again this year's theme is Every Gift Matters. But we know the theme has more resonance this year during these challenging economic times when budgets are tight and job have been cut. Gifts help restock food banks, assist seniors, children, and cancer patients, and help clean up the environment.
The non-profit organizations listed in this brochure are proven leaders in the field of charitable support. Their goal is nothing short of making this world a better place. From Global Impact to Community Shares to the United Negro College Fund to the United Way, these organizations have a history of using all gifts efficiently, and focusing their efforts on the greatest need.
We should all be proud that in each of the past several years we have donated more than $1 million. That level of generosity on this campus defines the character of Illinois. And, with Dr. Maureen Banks, Director of Safety and Compliance with Facilities and Services as our Board Chair, I am confident that we will reach and, in fact, even surpass this year's goal of $1.4 million.
Very truly yours,
Richard Herman
