1. How can I (a donor) change the amount or the designations of my current Payroll Deduction pledge for the 2008 fund drive?
There are two ways to make changes to an existing payroll deduction. (1) Go online to www.ccfd.illinois.edu and follow directions to make a new pledge; or (2) complete a paper pledge form and submit to your Unit Leader. These changes will go into effect as of the first pay period in January, 2009.
2. May I make a pledge to a designated program within one of the eleven umbrella agencies on the CCFD website?
Yes, we are pleased to offer the ability to make pledges to designated programs within the eleven participating agencies on the CCFD website www.ccfd.illinois.edu.
3. If I made an online pledge to a designated program within an umbrella agency during last year's campaign will my gift continue to those designated programs for this year's campaign?
Yes, unless a donor wishes to make a change to their payroll deduction, their 2008 pledge will automatically rollover even if the pledge was made to a designated program under an umbrella agency.
4. Am I required to complete a new pledge form (online or paper) this year, if I wish my pledge to continue exactly the same as last year?s fund drive?
If donors are not making any changes to their payroll deduction to umbrella agencies or to designated programs within the umbrella agencies, they need not submit a new pledge.
5. What is the minimum donation that I can make?
Payroll deductions can be as little as $24.00 a year (that is $2 per month) per designated program. For example, if you wish to donate to two programs within one umbrella agency, you must give at least $24 annually per program for a grand total of $48 annually. Remember, there is no maximum donation amount!
6. Which pledge method should a donor choose, online or paper?
For payroll deductions, CCFD encourages all donors to take advantage of the ability to make payroll deduction pledges online. This will help reduce CCFD processing costs and will increase accuracy. If the donor wishes to make a gift by check or stock, he/she will need to submit this gift via a paper pledge.
7. Can I give to an organization that is not listed in the Agency Brochure (such as WILL or the Judah Christian School)?
Yes, as long as the organization is listed on the umbrella agency's website and identified by the IRS as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, donations will be forwarded. Please complete the agency's designation form located online with the agency information, using the blank lines to enter the name and address of the organization. If the contribution is by check, the check should be made payable to the umbrella agency (not to the designated program).
8. Can a donation to an agency covered by the CCFD but not given through the CCFD be counted toward my unit's goal?
Yes, if the donation was made during the campaign and you can provide documentation of the donation (a copy of the canceled check, credit card receipt or a thank you note) we can count it toward your unit's goal. This also applies to contributions made by retirees.
9. What happens to a payroll deduction pledge if an employee resigns or retires from the University?
CCFD payroll deductions cease with the donor's final payroll check. If there is an outstanding pledged amount and the employee would like to complete their pledge prior to leaving the university, CCFD can accept donations by check at any time during the year.
10. How can a University retiree contribute through CCFD?
Retirees can make a one time contribution by filling out a pledge form and delivering it to their volunteer leader along with their personal check payable to the umbrella agency. Contributions can also be mailed directly to the CCFD office at: Campus Charitable Fund Drive, 601 E. John St., Champaign, IL 61820. A retiree that has returned to University employment also has the option of payroll deduction. To sign up retirees should log on to www.ccfd.illinois.edu or complete a pledge form and return it to their volunteer leader.
11. When are CCFD pledges due?
This year's fund drive will run September 22 through November 14, 2008. Although pledges can be accepted any time throughout the year, pledging during that time will insure a donor's gift will be counted in the 2008 fund drive.
12. I understand that contributions I make through payroll deduction continue until I cancel or change the donation in writing. How do I make changes to my current payroll deduction.
Employees may increase, decrease, or terminate their current pledge by completing a new pledge card and returning it to their CCFD volunteer leaders. They may also change their pledge at any time by contacting CCFD at ccfd@illinois.edu or 265-6398. Payroll deductions for the current (2008) campaign will begin with the January 2009 paycheck. All employees will be reminded of the opportunity to change or cancel their deductions during the annual fund drive.
13. Does the donor's department staff have to enter any special information into Banner to initiate their deduction?
The employee's department staff is not responsible for entering this information. CCFD will transmit all deduction requests to Banner. A donor can make a payroll deduction request online or by completing a paper pledge form.
14. The percentage figure that sometimes appears with agencies? information in the Agency Brochure: what does it represent?
This figure represents the portion of an agency's overall expenses that goes to fundraising and administrative costs, as reported by each agency. Just so you know, the University forwards the full amount of Illinois employee contributions to the agencies. There are no administrative charges deducted by the University from the contributions.
15. Are contributions pre-or post-tax?
Contributions are deducted from paychecks after state and income taxes are deducted.
16. Are contributions tax deductible?

17. How will my gift be acknowledged by CCFD?
Donors at the Dollar-a-Day, Pacesetter, Leader, and Founder levels will be publicly recognized in printed materials in Inside Illinois and other CCFD printed materials, unless the donor specifies that their name not be included on published lists.

Each agency handles recognition in different ways, some will send a thank you note to your home or work, but it varies.
